Kenaz by daisukekazama Kenaz by daisukekazama
Finished design here.

M8pds 'Kenaz' semi-automatic handgun - a semi-compact box of reinforced-modulus ballistic carbon polymer fun firing 6.2x25mm armor piercing bullets. Also, tacticool rails.

Longtime watchers might recognize the weapon as the spiritual successor of my not-so-successful Ghosthawk design. See the design similarities?

'Kenaz' is the Futhark rune for 'torch' (that is, 'fire as a controlled tool').

----

Edit 1: Weapon now has mag release. It's a bit small... but whatevs.

Hi there, I love this design, it's really well done! I was wondering if you would be okay with me using a slight variation of it as my 'official sidearm' for my nation on the game site NationStates.net. I'd really appreciate it if I could. Here is my proposed Kenaz-B variant: [link]

This is very great. I was wondering if I could get your permission to draw this handgun because it is your design. I'll give you credit too. Let me know. Peace

Another great design here and just a really badass looking combat auto. The hex camo is a nice touch on the bottom one. I can only assume the unusual pattern grooving on the slide is concave, which is a nice aesthetic driven touch.

Ah - you must be using the Pen in the Shape Layers mode. Try using it in Path mode.

Hey, Daisuke

Great work, as per the norm. There's just one thing I wanted to help you out with and note. I would be careful with those small AP rounds for handguns. Like with the 5.7x28mm for the Five-seveN, the problem with it is that it's AP to the point where you'd through-and-through your target, but the bullet would have no kinetic-dump to stop inside the body, even after going through body-armor.

This scenario created two problems. Because the bullet didn't lodge itself in the target, there was no dump; thus, no internal damage when a hunk of metal slams to a halt inside the body. That's where you get your internal injuries. Without that you have to end up shooting him quite a few times, and if you have a limited supply of ammo, well, you were fucked. Ever wonder why the Five-seveN and P90 had such large capacity? The designer compensated for lack of kinetic dumping.

The second problem is collateral damage. With so much power behind the round you could end up putting rounds through a target and into people standing behind him on accident.

To remedy this, check out the Swedish 6.5x25 CBJ round and go from there. It's AP capability is outstanding, even beating out the 5.56mm and 7.62mm rounds in a competition where it was only supposed to beat out three other SMGs. The cartridge has the same overall dimensions as the 9x19, and 9mm guns can fire the 6.5 mm round with just a change of barrel (they can use the same magazines). The standard ball round fires a sabot-type tungsten 4.0mm diameter sub-projectile at high velocity: 2.0g at a muzzle velocity varying between 730 and 900 m/s depending on barrel length, with the lower figure from a 120mm barrel (giving muzzle energies varying between 533 and 810 J), thereby achieving good armor penetration out to a claimed 400 meters from the longest (300 mm) barrel. Other sub-caliber and full-caliber loadings have also been developed.

Scroll down to the bottom of this site and check out the modified Brugger & Thomet MP9 shoot it.

My dimensions are close enough to the Swedish round; I'll just situate it as a slightly necked-down variation or something.

Thanks. It was inspired by people who stipple their pistols; they always seem to include a patch above the trigger guard.

Several models of Taurus pistol have a small dished out area on the frame intended to perform the same function. I used grit tape to make "memory pads" on my AR-15s since when I first got them I tended to place my trigger finger across the mag release button when indexing, the reason being prior to getting the ARs I was accustomed to handling Kalashnikovs so I was used to not having a mag release in the vicinity of my finger when indexing. The tape "pads" worked pretty well.

Yep. That was the first to incorporate the feature I believe, Since then it's been featured on some other Taurus models as well like the PT709 and some others I've seen but don't know the names of (I had a 24-7 in .45 acp for a bit and currently have a .357 Tracker but aside from that I'm not too well versed in Taurus' current product lineup)

I'm surprised it hasn't been incorporated in other manufacturers' firearms. Seems like a nifty feature to have on a handgun.

lol but I've always wondered what exactly tacticool means in the first place. I have a basic idea of what it means but I'm not sure. Did it originate on /k/ perhaps?

No idea. I have a loose notion that it means 'an overzealous extension of the modern trend in firearms design towards modularity, combat-effectiveness, and suitability for military or law enforcement use.'

The insane number of Armalite AR-15 derivatives and aftermarket parts out there - most of them with egregious numbers of 'tactical' attachment rails - would be a better example.

It's a contraction (or something) of tactical and cool. Basically it's having an AR-15 with a Magpul grip, a Vltor stock, a 16" Noveske barrel, a KAC rail forearm, a vertical grip, a flashlight, an EOTech sight, and a 9-to-5 job, 40 pounds of excessive body weight and a nice SUV. So, having a firearm with lots of accessories that are/look cool, whist having no use for it other than fun or showing off.
